Funimation's New Show A-Go-Go Day 1: Ikki Tousen

Looks like people are 1 for 1 on the clues Funimation left as Funimation’s first “acquisition” is a Geneon rescue of the anime series Ikki Tousen.

From what I can tell, this is different from the past Geneon announcements by Funimation in that it appears that Funimation has acquired the actual license for the show, unlike the other shows which, I believe, Geneon still holds the licenses for.  In any case, I assume they’ll release this in a single box set like their other Geneon shows which were already finished.

Ikki Tousen isn’t exactly the most thrilling title to start off with, but maybe Funimation will start with least exciting to most exciting (and if the guesses about the clues are correct, we’ll get at least a couple of exciting titles). In any case, we are at Geneon Rescues 1, Actual New Shows 0.

  1. Yea supposedly roughly 5 of the new licenses are going to be Geneon Rescues(and mostly not the rescues that people have been clamoring over). Funimation has failed us this time.

  2. Well, with Gad Guard today, it looks like 4 of those 5 will be GONZO titles, so Funi probably got them en masse, plus Ikki Tousen for some reason.

People will like Last Exile, assuming people are right about that one, but yeah, I think people are wondering where shows like Chobits, Ai Yori Aoshi, and Haibane Renmei (among others) are.
